Skin Tutorial by Prayer Part 1 : light and shadow
Wellcome to my tutorial Part 1!
Today I want to show you my way of painting skin. Things you will need: wet pallet, standard or large citadel brush (depends on size of area), Tallarn Flesh and scorched brown. First you have to use primer on the miniature. I usually use black primer and afterwards I spray a little dust of white primer on it, then I spray more of the white where the light is suposed to shine from. You should try that way. It will make it easier to locate the light and shadows on the miniature and will of course make it easier to paint the light and dark layers.
Prepare the tallarn flesh and the scorched brown on your wet pallet. Mix some of the colours together in the middle.
You should always start with the darker parts of the skin and work through to the lighter areas. Cross the borders a bit then quickly get the lighter (tallarn flesh) colour in the brush (do not use to much water) and start to work the light areas through the dark colour skin tone untill it looks like a blending. This is called wet blending. You can adjust the boarders with the mixture. You get a high contrast of light and shadow. You have to decide for your self how high the contrast is. Just use a mixture of scorched and tallarn in the darkest areas. ;-)
Part 2: shadowing down will follow. Thank you for reading!

Painting Class with Jarhead
Hey there,
I attended to a painting class with Roman Lappat aka Jarhead from the Internet ;P in Dillingen. It was a really funny Weekend filled with happy painting, meeting nice people and so much more.
Seeing projects like Romans pirate or Raffas Slayer sword winning Duell "Hunter or Hunted" in real was a very big inspiration to me. I was also able to have a real life look of this awesome spiderweb Base. I can just say......watch out for an upcomming Suprise from Massive Voodoo. You can learn a lot!
I builded one of the biggest bases ever on this workshop. And it was my first go on gypsum stuff, potting soil and cord. Stay tuned for some pictures in the very near future.
I could spend hours writing to report everything which went down during the class. But I think everyone is waiting for the pictures :D So to come to an end I want to say thanks to Roman, Raffa, Andy and all the others for having such a good time.
It was my pleasure to learn from such skilled painters and such nice individuals as you.
Special thanks of course to Roman for changing the way I look at the hobby inspiration wise. Stay like you are and keep on happy painting.
Special thanks to Raffa, too for showing me some tricks when it comes to advanced freehand techniques. It was very nice to meet you and get to know you a little bit longer than on a stressfull event like Games Day. ;P
Enough talk, bring the pics!
Check out www.massivevoodoo.blogspot.com for a big report from Kong himself ;D

Basing Workshop Review
Hey there,
after some days of fighting off study projects and Chill out time here is finally a quick review of the first official CoC Workshop focusing on showcase bases. Since I only focused on the local gamer and hobby community it was a pretty small workshop. But hey it was fun anyway and I hope everybody learned something and had a little fun on this day.
Without further blabla here are the pics:
Now I will prepare the last few things to attend to a workshop myself. Gonna meet the innovative mastermind Jarhead tomorrow for a happy painting weekend. :P Cant wait to focus on the hobby for a weekend between all the recent study projects.
Will be back on sunday evening and hopefully get a quick review up here next week,
so far, so long,
Simon aka Katan
